In the preceding thirteen years, Rev. Canon Angela S. Ifill has dedicated her service to the Episcopal Church, operating as the Missioner for Black Ministries. Her commendable contributions include initiating the New Visions Initiative for Congregational Revitalization and Growth, creating a Clergy Leadership Institute for newly ordained members, establishing a Learning and Advancement Institute for the Sudanese Community, and designing the Rising Stars Experience (RISE), a counter initiative against the School-to-Prison Pipeline. Furthermore, she has been deeply involved with youth and young adults and contributed to the three Episcopal affiliated Historically Black Colleges and Universities.
Prior to her position at the Church Center, Rev. Ifill had a prominent role as the Associate Rector at St. Paul's Church in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. She was the first black priest to serve the large congregation of the Diocese of Ohio, also leading their Anti-Racism Commission. As the Canon Pastor at Trinity and St. Philips Cathedral in Newark, New Jersey, she initiated the Mission to Dismantle Racism in the Diocese. She played a crucial role in establishing a Companion Relationship with the Diocese of Mozambique and leading a team to install solar water pumps.
Rev. Ifill, characterized by her spiritual dedication and mission-oriented approach, served as a missionary in East Africa for a year. Her pursuit of knowledge about African Christianity took her on journeys through Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia to conduct research and pen a paper on the Church's Revival in East Africa.
Following her undergraduate degree in Psychology, Rev. Ifill obtained her Master's in Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary, Alexandria, Virginia, in 1995. Her educational endeavors extended to Oxford, England, and the College at Windsor Castle, Windsor. She holds multiple certificates in Ministry, Leadership, and Management, and has undertaken coursework towards a Doctor of Ministry degree.
Among her many contributions, Rev. Ifill created the Rising Stars Experience (RISE), a Rite of Passage program for youth, and the "Values to Live By" resource. She has also developed the New Visions Initiative for Congregational Revitalization and the Leadership Institute for Learning and Renewal within the Sudanese community. Currently, she serves as the Interim Rector at St. Mark's Church in Haines City, Florida, and is the Founder & CEO of Isaiah 6:8 International Initiatives Group, Inc.
Born in Trinidad, Rev. Ifill is a proud mother of three children and doting grandmother to her extraordinarily talented grandchildren. In her leisure time, she enjoys walking, gardening, traveling, reading, and hosting gatherings.
